I'm Max, a software and ML engineer.I'm excited about building developer tools to enable other engineers and myself to do great work. My passion for machine learning started when I started applying it to physics problems and I'm working with LLMs since I was using them for computational social science research as a visiting researcher at UC Berkeley in 2021. To me, deliberate practice is key to mastery and dedicating time to learn hard things is part of my identity. Most recently, I've dedicated three months on doing that full time during a batch at Recurse Center, a self-directed programming retreat in NYC. You can read about it here .
When I am not working, I am spending time with those dear to me, catching waves, running, hiking, or lifting up heavy things in the gym.
